An internship at Peritus is more than just a great credential to put on your resume; it’s the hands-on, professional work experience you need to help give you a head start on the competition. As the largest and fastest growing communications firm in Kentucky, our goal is to prepare you for the future by providing you with the most challenging, dynamic work environment possible. Whether you are interested in media relations, communications, politics, marketing or graphic design, we’ll place you on the right team to learn from some of the most talented communications professionals in the industry.

For several of our interns, the Peritus internship program helped launch successful careers in public relations, public affairs and marketing. Some have gone on to receive distinguished awards and scholarships such as the Fulbright Scholarship. My experience with Peritus has opened many doors for me professionally, both in and out of Kentucky. Available Internship Programs…

Peritus offers an eight-week summer internship requiring at least 30 hours per week. Spring and Fall internships are also offered requiring at least 15 hours per week and working around your class schedule. The internship is paid and our hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Peritus offers internship programs in the following cities:

  • Louisville, Ky.
  • Lexington, Ky.
  • Nashville, Tenn.
  • Indianapolis, Ind.
  • Columbus, Ohio
  • Birmingham, Ala.

What we’re looking for…

Peritus is looking for students majoring in Public Relations, Public Affairs, Political Science, Marketing, Communications, or Graphic Design. Excellent time-management and organizational skills are critical for success. Interns must also have exceptional writing and oral communication skills, a good attitude and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Drafting media advisories and press releases
  • Updating/building media lists
  • Attending client and industry meetings
  • Pitching traditional and new media
  • Event planning and execution
  • Conducting project research
  • Gathering and organizing clip reports
  • Updating social media and website pages
  • Performing administrative duties
  • Participating in the Peritus internship competition
  • Design concept on a variety of projects, both print and online (graphic design)
  • Page layout and work in Adobe and MS Office software (graphic design)
  • Bidding projects for printing and working with web development teams (graphic design)
