Alex Cate

Alex supports clients in the innovation, economic development and tourism sectors through strategic advising, advocacy, community affairs and communications solutions. Prior to joining Peritus, Alex served as Vice President for Economic Development for HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology where he led economic development, commercialization and workforce development initiatives in the biotechnology sector. While at HudsonAlpha, Alex developed and managed innovation programming and represented the Institute in economic development and community initiatives. Before moving to Alabama, Alex was an Associate at a Nashville-based public and government affairs firm where he represented nonprofit, economic development, technology and financial services clients. Alex has served on the board for BIO Alabama and on the advisory board for the Alabama Humanities Alliance. He is also a graduate of Auburn University’s Government and Economic Development Institute’s Intensive Economic Development Training Course. Originally from Franklin, Tenn., Alex graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in journalism and minor in statistics. Before shifting his focus into public affairs, Alex wrote for the Tennessee Alumnus magazine and interned in the sports department of The Tennessean.
