“Good communication is rarely about saying more. It’s about saying the right thing, in the right way, with the right intent at the right time.”
Joe Daniel, MA
communications specialist
Joe brings a thoughtful, research-informed approach to communications work, helping clients develop messages that resonate across audiences. His background spans higher education, digital media, community engagement and storytelling. Before joining Peritus full-time, Joe taught courses in public speaking, interpersonal communication and nonverbal behavior (his favorite) at The University of Alabama. He earned his B.A. in 2020, M.A. in 2022 and completed a graduate certificate in qualitative research methods along the way.
He applies that foundation in settings where clarity counts. Whether developing an op-ed, facilitating a stakeholder conversation or helping the team think through how they show up in the world, Joe is known for asking thoughtful questions, distilling complex ideas and following through on details that move our work forward.
Originally from the small town of Nauvoo, Alabama, Joe now lives in Birmingham’s Forest Park neighborhood with his partner and their dog, Margot. He spends his free time browsing antique shops, searching for the best pastry in town, catching live music and walking the neighborhood with a strong coffee in hand. On a good day, all those things happen at once.
